Week Beginning: 20th May 2024

NURSERY

In nursery this week we will be reading "Jack and the Beanstalk" and the children will be using their imaginations to help turn our role play area into a castle and get creative making a beanstalk out of different materials.

We will be looking at number sequencing 1-10 and beyond as well as practicing our phonic sounds.

RECEPTION

In Reception we will be continuing our topic on Pollution and how we can play our part to reuse, recycle and reduce our waste. We shall be using our sock puppets creations that we made last week to act as Pollution Superheroes and we will describe in our writing what their Pollution Superpower is. In Maths our focus is halving numbers using a variety of different media.

YEAR 1

DT Week in Year 1,we will be sewing and decorating our own hand puppets. In Maths we are consolidating our learning on time. Don't forget our trip to the River Cray on Wednesday, children are to wear school uniform and can wear comfortable shoes, no sliders or crocs please! Friday is Wellbeing Day with lots of fun activities planned, children can wear comfortable bottoms but school tops please.

YEAR 2

Year 2 are going to be learning about money and time in Maths. In English, we will be learning about suffix words. We are looking forward to our Wellbeing day on Friday.

YEAR 3

This week in Year 3, we will be writing our own volcano poems and including rhyming words. In maths, we will be collecting our own data and then producing bar graphs to show the results. We are also looking forward to Wellbeing Day on Friday - remember to wear your own, comfortable clothes. 

YEAR 4

This week in English, we will be finishing our Curriculum Topics by looking at food chains in Science and how to conserve water in Geography. 

This week in Maths, we will be looking at comparing and sorting shapes and describing the movement between translations of shapes.

YEAR 5

This week in Year 5, we will be showcasing all of our learning so far with our formal NTS tests. We will be completing reading, arithmetic and reasoning papers and a writing assessment. On Friday, we will be taking part in a whole school well-being day, 'My Voice Matters'. We will be expressing ourselves through art using a variety of media.

YEAR 6

This week in year six, we will be researching the different roles of women during WW" and what is meant by the blitz. In English, we will be writing a narrative using all of our different skills. In D.T, we will be working on the skill of threading a needle and sewing.
