Week Beginning: 24th June 2024

NURSERY

This week in nursery our theme is sea life , we will be researching different species of sea life and looking at way to protect them.

We will be reading the story “Rainbow Fish” and getting the children to think about feelings, would they share one of their scales ? How would you feel if your friend wouldn’t share a scale with you ?

For maths we will be looking at size order.

RECEPTION

This week in Reception we will be exploring Under the Sea and learning some facts about these amazing creatures. We shall be incorporating these facts into our creative writing. A reminder that the Science Dome will be here on Tuesday morning, For these that have not paid please do so before Tuesday.  In maths the children will be revisiting subtraction in provision and using manipulatives and resources to support their findings. In maths focus groups, the children will be beginning to explore the concept of multiplication by finding groups of and using the language that goes with it.

YEAR 1

This week in Maths, the children will be working on fractions of shapes - half and quarter.   In English, we will be using a picture stimulus in order to show off our writing skills.

YEAR 2

Year 2 will be completing their summer assessments this week. In History, we will be learning about the Art deco inside Eltham Palace. In ICT, we will be learning how to program a computer. 

YEAR 3

In Maths, we will be reinforcing our understanding of measure by solving problems involving weight, capacity and length. In English, we will help the band in our book decide whether to compete against another alien band that saved their lives. We will also be discovering more about Henry VIII and his six wives in History and we will also be experimenting with magnets in Science.    

YEAR 4

This week in English, we will be introducing the children to an exciting hook. We will be using our inverted commas to write a Newspaper Report. 

This week in Maths, we will be recapping on our previously taught methods from this half term so we are secure! 

YEAR 5

This week in Year 5, we are using our story plans to write a narrative titled, "Through the doorway". In History, we are investigating the impact of the industrial revolution' how it has altered our landscape, the population changes and the impact on Victorian children. In maths, we are solving real-life problems involving fractions and time. 

YEAR 6

This week, in science we will be looking at the different features that make up our blood. In English, we will be writing part of the narrative to go with the short video clip - The Lighthouse. During maths, we will be looking at how much we use maths on a daily basis.
