Uniform

Uniform 2

School uniform - We would like all of our children to wear their uniform with pride.

This is grey skirts, pinafore dresses or trousers, white polo shirt and a bottle green fleece/ cardigan or sweatshirt. Children who do not wear uniform will be given uniform to wear whilst in school.

Please ensure your child brings a coat to school during the colder months.

Children may wear wellington boots to walk to school. We understand that these may be necessary for the journey to or from school, but the children should wear plain black shoes or boots in school.

Hairbands should be plain. Scrunchies or ribbons should be blue, black, white, green or brown (non-decorative)

Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on their allocated PE day, if you are unsure which days these are please check with your child's teacher. T-shirts should be white with black shorts and either plimsolls or trainers.

We strongly recommend that children have a tracksuit available to wear for outdoor PE, even throughout the summer month as some days can be colder than other. Every class has outdoor PE at least once a week and we try to go outside for this lesson whenever possible.

Jewellery

We would like to remind you that small stud type earrings are the only type of jewellery that should be worn to school.  Larger studs or dangly, hoop earrings can be dangerous, especially when the children are playing outside and running around.  If your child does wear earrings, please try and teach him/her how to remove them for PE/swimming as the school accepts no responsibility for removing them. Using micropore tape does not prevent puncture injuries if the ear is knocked or hit by a ball.

Watches can be worn in KS1 and KS2 (at the child’s own risk) when a child is learning to or be able to tell the time, and should be removed for PE/swimming lessons.

We would also politely request that children do not wear false nails, nail varnish or fake tattoos to school.

Religious Clothing

Gray’s Farm Primary Academy understands that some religions and beliefs require their adherents to conform to a particular dress code, or to otherwise outwardly manifest their belief. This could include wearing or carrying specific religious artefacts, not cutting their hair, dressing modestly, or covering their head. Pupils have the right to manifest a religion or belief (Human Rights Act 1998), but not necessarily at all times, places or in a particular manner (Equality Act 2010).

Children are allowed to wear grey, black or white religious headscarves.
