Wellbeing

Welcome to the Gray’s Farm wellbeing page where you will be able to access a range of information regarding the support we provide for children and families to ensure a positive wellbeing for everyone.

In order to help our children succeed, we use many tools as part of our everyday approach to encourage a healthy wellbeing for all. We recognise that a how a child is feeling, will have a huge impact on how well they succeed at school and so we make
it a priority to promote wellbeing throughout our school.

This include creating calm and welcoming learning spaces, using a consistent and fair approach to behaviour, as well as using the ‘The Zones of Regulation Toolkits’. The Zones of Regulation are a way for children to acknowledge how they are feeling as well as recognising factors that can change their mood. All children are familiar with the different zones and the behaviours we may display if we are feeling a certain way. To help promote these conversations, every classroom has a zones of regulation display for them to refer to and all classes hold termly lessons where children are provided with the opportunity to discuss their feelings.

As well as this, we also hold wellbeing days every term, where children are encouraged to come in wearing comfy clothes and the day will be spent unpicking an element of their wellbeing through fun and engaging activities. Last half term this included holding a music wellbeing day, where pupils had the opportunity to express themselves through music. Each class also had the chance to take part in a music workshop which was a lot of fun!

Furthermore, at Gray’s Farm Primary Academy we provide a whole range of tailored support to cater for our children and their needs to ensure equality of provision throughout the school and inclusive practice is maintained for everyone. This includes SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support, pastoral and SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) support, and our ACE (A Champion for Every Child) programme. This means whatever life throws at you, and your children, we will do all we can to ensure your child receives the support they need to stay mentally and emotionally healthy.

How you can access additional support

A member of staff may contact you if we believe your child may benefit from additional support. If you, as a parent or carer, have a concern you would like to discuss there are a number of ways to initiate the conversation:

  • Talk to a familiar face on the playground meet and greet in the mornings or afternoons
  • Arrange a meeting with the class teacher
  • Telephone the school and arrange to come in for a more personal meeting with a school leader such as the Head or Deputy Head Teacher, Inclusion Leader or Pastoral Leader.

How can the children seek support

Staff at Gray’s Farm know the children well and plan targeted provision for children that need it most. However, if a child needs or would like additional wellbeing support that is not in place already, they can speak to any member of staff.
