Nursery admissions:
Part of our Early Years Department at Gray's Farm Primary Academy includes a Nursery Class, which is avalaible for children aged 3 and above.
At Gray’s Farm we are now able to offer a more flexible way for families to access Nursery entitlement.
- All families of children in the mainstream nursery age bracket are entitled to 15 hours of free universal nursery provision.
- Some families will also be eligible for an additional 15 hours of free nursery provision through the government’s Childcare Choices scheme. This means you can access up to 30 hours of funded provision per week in our nursery if you provide us with a valid eligibility code within the government's defined timescales - please see the government Childcare Choice Website for more information and to apply for a code. These additional hours are for working parents only.
- Families are also able to pay the school directly for additional nursery sessions (morning or afternoon) .
Subject to availability, families can choose how their child’s eligible hours are spread across the school week but these must fit within our school hours of 8.30am - 3.30pm.
- Morning or afternoon only using your 15 hours of free universal entitlement (5 x 3 hour nursery sessions, Monday to Friday 8.30-11.30am or Monday to Friday 12.30-3.30pm).
- A mixture of morning, afternoon and/or all-day sessions
- Using your 15 hours of free universal entitlement (two full days or one full day and two half day sessions).
- Using your 15 hours of free universal entitlement and paying for any further hours up to five full days of nursery provision.
- Full time nursery using your child’s 15 hours of free universal entitlement and combining this with the additional 15 free hours available via the government's Childcare Choices scheme (if eligible) to access up to 5 full days of nursery provision (Monday to Friday 8.30am - 2.30pm). If 30 hour funding parents would like to pay for an additional hour until 3.30pm this is something we are able to offer.

Reception and Key Stage 1 appeals:
The law states that infant classes (EYFS and Key Stage 1) must be limited to a maximum of 30 children. This impacts on how an appeal is considered and an appeal for a Reception place can only be upheld in very limited circumstances.
If an appeal does not satisfy any of these conditions then it cannot be upheld in favour of the parent/carer.
We would encourage you in the first instance to discuss your case informally with the Admissions Team who will give you advice and explain the process.
Timetable for Appeals - Primary:
Your appeal will be heard at what is called a Hearing, within a time scale of 40 school days from 14th May 2025. It is likely to be heard at the end of June. A confirmed date will be shared at the beginning of June.
All other appeals known as ‘in-year’ admissions and those for Year R submitted after 14th May 2025 will be heard within 30 school working days of submitting the request.
Your appeal request should state your reasons for your request and any additional information/documentation/appendices should be submitted five days before the Hearing to allow time for it to be copied and distributed to all the interested parties. At least 10 working days before your appeal, unless you choose to waive this right, you will be sent detailed information regarding the process and also the date and names of the independent panel members who will hear the appeal.
The school is unable to guarantee that any original work/evidence/folders, submitted as part of the appeal, will be returned. Appellants may wish to submit copies in advance and then take important original documents verifying evidence to the appeal.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
If you have any questions about the process then please can contact the Admissions team via secondary.admissions@bromley.gov.uk or primary.admissions@bromley.gov.uk.
