Welcome back, we hope you enjoyed some quality time with your families. In Reception Class this week, we will be looking at the Winter Season and all the changes it brings.

During our maths  input we will be revisiting number bonds of 5. Please ensure you read daily with your child as they will be moving on "ditty sheets"  Thankyou for your support.

Year 1

Welcome Back Year 1!  We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

This week, in Maths, we will be working on Place Value and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and solving word problems.  In English, we will be using images to write adjectives and nouns and continuing to use the conjunction 'and' to add detail to our main clauses.

PE this term is Tuesdays and Wednesdays - please remember PE kits to be worn to school.  Please continue to read with your children everyday and make sure you sign their reading records.  Phonics books will be changed every Thursday.  Thank you for your continued support.

Year 2

Year 2 will be moving on to place value in maths. In English, we will be gathering information to write non fiction text on our new book 'Wombat Goes Walkabout'. In Science and Geography, we will be starting our new topics, why do materials matter? and where would you rather live?

Year 3

This week in Year 3, we are revisiting our work around place value, focusing on adding and subtracting 10 and 100 and partitioning 3 and 4 digit numbers. In English, we are using descriptive and emotive language to write in the role of a character and will be using a variety of sentence openers to link our writing. We are looking forward to starting our new science topic, 'Rocks and Soils' and will be investigating the different components that can be found in soil.

Year 4

Welcome back!  We hope you've had a lovely break, and thank you for your kind gifts.  Children should be coming back this week with their new homework sheets for this half term.  In Geography we will be starting our topic about Scandinavian countries.  In PSHE we will start with learning about when to keep secrets and when we should talk to someone for advice or help.  Science will hopefully be electrifying (well not literally,  but our topic is about circuits.)

Year 5

Welcome back to the Spring term. In Maths, we are revisiting place value, focusing on decimal numbers and rounding. For English, we are revisiting some of our previously taught skills and then starting to write diary entries with emotive language and a range of sentence structures.

We are starting new subjects and topics this term. In Science, we are looking at changing states. In Geography, we are comparing the UK with North American countries. We are also continuing with our Computing and PSHE curriculums.

Year 6

Happy New Year to you all. This week we will be beginning our journey around the continent - South America. We will be making comparisons between different countries in South America and the UK. During our science topic, we will be exploring electrical circuits.
