Week beginning: 24th March

Nursery

This week in nursery our theme will be “On the Farm” as well as looking at animals that live on the farm ,we will be looking at what plants grows on the farm and will be planting tomatoes and observing how they grow, look, smell and eventually taste.

Our story is “Jack and the Bean Stalk” and for maths we will be covering size order and continuing to sing number songs.

Reception

In Reception Class this week we will be exploring the Easter story and continue to look at new beginnings. We are hoping our ducklings will have hatched and the children shall  experience caring and handling the ducklings under supervision and understanding the reason for thorough hygiene practice. In maths we will be looking at 3D shapes and exploring them within the environment. How many 3D shapes can you name? Please continue reading every day and return all book bags by Wednesday.

Year 1

This week in Maths we are recognising different coins and solving additions using 1 and 2 digit numbers. In English our focus is The Enormous Turnip. We will be ordering instructions, using verbs and then consolidating our learning with a story retell. 

You are invited to a Phonics Screening Meeting with Miss Sutluceli on Monday 31st March at 9am, your child should have brought home a slip with a QR code for you to sign up for this. 

PE days are Monday and Tuesday, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately and in a plain black tracksuit.

Please remember to read with your child every day and sign their reading record, packs are due into school every Thursday to be changed for the week. 

Year 2

In Maths, we are going to present and interpret data using a variety of charts (pictogram, bar chart and tally chart).

In English, we are going to look at how to use the conjunction 'that' in our writing. Towards the end of the week, we are going to plan and write our own version of the story; We are going to find the monster.

On Monday, 24th March, it is Open Afternoon from 2pm onwards. Parents/carers are invited to have a look at the children's work.

Year 3

This week in Year 3, we are adding and subtracting fractions with the support of pictorial representations. In English, we are using pronouns and apostrophes to write character and setting descriptions. In History, we are looking at bronze age artefacts and we will be creating an information flip book in science.

Year 4

We've pretty much finished our testing for this half term.  Don't worry though, this week we'll be catching up with anyone who missed out.  The children have done fantastically, for which we're sure you deserve much of the credit!  We're looking forward to seeing you all for the open afternoon.and as a 'heads up' we're busy planning for or wow day which will be before half term and on our topic of the Romans...Watch out for more information coming very soon.

Year 5

In English, we are continuing with 'There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom'. This week, we will be writing diary entries using emotive language. 

For Maths, Miss Gillies' group are continuing with a new method of long division (this is a tricky concept) and revisiting calculating with fractions. In Mrs Gold and Mrs Adam's group, we will be continuing with short division. 

Year 6

This week in year six, we are having a mini mock SATs week. We will be completing our science lesson evolution and adaptation, where we will investigate fossils. In PE, we are developing our team building skills.   Don’t forgot our trip to Chislehurst Caves must be paid by Wednesday 26th.
